Photography
Jaime began shooting photos with a purpose when he was 16-years-old. He used an old hand-me-down Pentax SLR camera and shot most of his photos on Ilford black and white film. He spent numerous hours developing photos in the basement of his house in a darkroom shared with his mother and grandmother.
Using his experience behind the lens and inside the darkroom, Jaime was selected as the Photography Editor of his high school year book at Point Grey Sceondary School in Vancouver, British Columbia.
At university, Jaime continued to shoot photographs. He was a staff photographer at the McGill Tribune where he focused his efforts on sports photography. However, his first assignment may have been his most memorable. Jaime was assigned to shoot a lecture by Paul Martin, then Finance Minister of Canada. Jaime was eventually offered the job of Co-Photography Editor of the McGill Tribune, but he turned it down as a result of university political aspirations. In addition to his contributions to the McGill Tribune, his photos were used on the front and back cover of the McGill Journal of Political Studies in 1999.
Post university, Jaime has continued to shoot photographs. Most recently, he shot photographs at practices and events for the Toronto Argonauts Football Club of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Jaime's photos have appeared in the National Post, 24 Hours Toronto, Metronews Toronto, The Calgary Journal, the Toronto Argonauts' Media Guide and online at various CFL websites. Several of Jaime's photographs were used in the book Double Blue: An illustrated history of the Toronto Argonauts. Recently, Jaime shot photographs for the Canadian Forces as a civilian contractor for Exercise Desert Ram at CFB Wainwright.
Jaime is also an avid traveller and has shot thousands more photos during his adventures.
