Jodhpur:
December 22nd, 2004 - December 23rd, 2004We arrived in Jodhpur in the afternoon and tried to take it easy after a few days in the "bush" so to speak.
Jodhpur is your standard Rajasthani city with a fort and whatnot. They talk about the ABC's of Europe (Another Bloody Church); well, it is a bit like that in northern India with the forts. Nevertheless, we did enjoy the city as the people were friendly.
We ventured into a local market and had some fun. The people were much less aggressive than other parts - except the lady who jammed some glass bracelets onto Jess's wrist and then couldn't get them off. Finally she had to snap them! Fun times...
We departed Jodhpur on an overnight train for Jaisalmer. Our second night train was much better than our first!
Firstly, there were no nuns! But seriously, for a few extra dollars we moved up a class of sleeper into an A/C car. That made a huge difference in the comfort and the people.
We were given sheets and pillows and it was quite a relaxing journey. The train was an hour late (surprise), but that gave us a little more time to sleep because it got in at 6:50 am instead of 5:50 am!
